The long-vacant site at 500 Pine Street was once home to the original Kong Chow Temple. Following its demolition after community protests, the property was redeveloped into a five-story commercial building with a publicly accessible rooftop extension to St. Mary's Square Park, constructed in conjunction with nearby 350 Bush Street. As St. Mary's Square is designated an Open Space District, the project was required to expand the park as part of the development.

Wing Lee led the design of the rooftop garden, lobby, and interior test fits while coordinating with multiple neighborhood stakeholder groups to create a commemorative rooftop open space featuring sculptures. The building includes four full-floor office levels, a partial fifth floor, a rooftop mechanical penthouse, a full basement parking level, and a partial sub-basement for building services. The fifth floor and penthouse were carefully designed to remain within the City's allowable shadow envelope, creating a seamless connection between St. Mary's Square Park and the rooftop public open space.
